MLIA > FML

Sunday, May 17th, 2009

Probably most of you have seen the popular site fmylife.com, and have found it pretty entertaining (my personal favorite is this one). As regards internet humor, I certainly consider it a gem, and can usually find something to laugh (or groan) at every time I check it, adding some much needing entertainment and/or exasperation to my normally monotonous day.

However, quite unbeknownst to me, another site had been growing in popularity, a site which was brought to my attention just to day and which, in counter to FML, adds some much needed monotony to my more volatile days : MyLifeIsAverage. Honestly, though, this site is really funny. I am a huge fan of really dry humor, being of the opinion that it takes more mental effort to comprehend, and is therefore more valuable :P Granted, this site may not have the intelligence factor of some classic works of dry humor (i.e. anything by Douglas Adams), but the absolute normalcy of the whole thing appeals to me greatly, and is why I recommend you check out the chronicles of normal people doing normal things.

This Is Probably Why Tolkien Hated Technology So Much

Tuesday, May 12th, 2009

Yeah, so I can totally see the logic behind Tolkien’s fervent anti-modernism after having my computer crash for the umpteenth time in the past month. This time, however, after getting the blue screen of death, I got my comp back up (luckily!), and did the smart thing, putting my important stuff onto my external. So, for now, I’m using my mom’s computer on borrowed time until I can find a replacement for my now pronounced deceased desktop.

Anywho, some people (Gabe) where wondering where the comics went, so I thought I’d start slowly posting them back up here when I have nothing else to talk about, and I thought I’d start with one that I never actually got to post, but thought was pretty funny, so here you go.

What We’ve Actually Been Up To

Saturday, May 9th, 2009

The truth is, guys, that we have plenty of time to write posts. Well, not exactly plenty of time, but enough to write a post every few days. We just choose to fill it with things like Lost, House, early 20th century horror novels, and, well, doing all the things we’re obligated to do. But! I dropped by to share some things.

First of all, Meat Cards! Laser technology, one of the cooler things in existence, has enabled this company to print words on meat! Jeff’s vegetarianism is probably on the verge of suicide right about now, because this is just so incredibly cool.

If it were practical and affordable, I’d definitely get some for Danger Syndicate, although I’m not sure exactly how well they would survive in wallets. Nevertheless, this is definitive proof that the populous will never run out of ideas. Ever. If we do, we’ll probably just shoot lasers at new and exciting different things.

Right now, my internet connection is just failing, and has been for a few weeks now. Airport attempts to convince me that it’s got a connection of “100%” (whatever that means), but the fact that del.icio.us takes several minutes to load, if at all, says otherwise. So, due to incriminating amounts of frustration (meaning: I’m so frustrated that it is illegal), I can only present you with three hastily provided links: Omegle, a chatroom site that pairs you with a random partner — can be very interesting. And two random articles I finally managed to grab from del.icio.us: 50 Crazy Cars and some weird-ass scientific papers/studies. I suggest you check out both.

Some Changes Will Be Made

Monday, May 4th, 2009

So, I’m sure anyone returning to D-Syn will be somewhat confused by the different layout and the curious lack of series of pictures and words, but I have an explanation! The thing is, Steven and I realized that although we love drawing comics, and posting them on the webernetz, the pretty strenuous posting schedule we set out for ourselves, both being extremely busy in school and out of it, was getting a bit out of hand, and was in many way hindering our ability to express ourselves. Drawing comics is really fun, and we won’t stop doing that, but both of us also have myriad other odd and interesting hobbies and obsessions that we’d like to focus on in turn, and share with all of you. I, for one, love to write, and as my life gets progressively less busy over the next few months I should be posting more and more compositions in addition to other quirky output I see fit to release unto the masses. In addition, the few weeks preceding and following this post are going to be extremely stressful for both of us, so expect to see more of us after (and before?) that. In any case, don’t worry that we’ve caught swine flu because, well, that’s ridiculous.
