Why?!?!
I can’t honestly say that I hate Keanu Reeves, but I am seriously pissed about his casting as Spike Siegel in the new live-action Cowboy Bebop movie. Cowboy Bebop is one of my favorite Anime series of all time, and I seriously don’t think that this was a good choice. First of all, visually, Keanu does not resemble Spike at all too me. Second of all, Keanu’s character (the silent, slightly dumbfounded, somber chosen one) doesn’t fit Spike, a witty, lackadaisical butt-kicker, at all. Now that I think about it, I can’t think of a single actor that would play Spike well (except for the obvious Johnny Depp, but, bleh). Any ideas?!? We have to save this movie now!

Woah! Egad! Alas! This is quite sad new. Keanu Reeves as Spike… that just totally ruined winter break. Hmmm… Johnny Depp…now that is an idea that would plausibly work. I really don’t want a live action bebop movie though…the event that they ruin it is a lot more probable than they do a semi good job. Sadness…however its good to know that there are a lot of people angry about this :http://www.firstshowing.net/2008/07/22/fox-developing-cowboy-bebop-live-action-feature-film/

That would ruin the legacy Cowboy Bebop has made. Spike is an aloof, somewhat distant character where as Keanu Reeves acts like he’s stoned 100% of the time.
I don’t know. I could see it, especially if you go back to his earlier stoner/slacker stuff from the 80s like “Bill and Ted” but he also has the capability to do some pretty decent acting (see Point Break). But he does seem to be an odd choice. At least they didn’t pick Hayden Christensen or some bullshit like that. I’m pissed at them for picking him to play Case in Neuromancer. But I think as long as they do the rest of the movie well enough it shouldn’t be tooooo bad (Cowboy Bebop, I mean).
